The 2009 Eastern Oregon BBQ Championship was a huge success with 16 teams
competing! Grand champion honors went to 2008 defending champion Ella's
BBQ (Cindy Hayter, head cook). Finishing in Reserve Grand Champion was Lynnae
Oxley of Sugar's Barbecue and Catering. Click

The 2008 poster has been printed and should be posted in and around Condon
by the end of the week. We are excited to announce that Murray's
Drug will be contributing a cash donation to the prize pool and that
Two Boys Select Market is giving each team 2 racks of baby back ribs!

Northwest BBQ Association is holding a judging class in Lake Oswego
on Saturday, June 21st.

The Allen Hamner Memorial Foundation announced the winners of the foundation's
first ever Sun Safety Poster Contest at an awards assembly at Condon Grade
School on Monday, May 5. There were 72 posters entered in the contest from
students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Cash prizes of $20, $15 and
$10 were awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in four divisions: Kindergarten
through 2nd grade, 3rd and 4th grade, 5th and 6th grade and 7th and 8th
grade.
Kindergarten through 2nd grade honors went to Jenna C. (first place), Bryce
H. (second place) and Lacy A. (third place). In 3rd and 4th grade, first
place was awarded to Jordan M., second place to Shawna M. and third place
to Piper J. First, second and third place in 5th and 6th grade went to Matney
J., Raschelle S. and Angel S., respectively. Hannah F., Sophia B. and Dani
W. placed first, second and third in the 7th and 8th grade division. Photos
